A simply supported beam with a hollow circular cross-section carries the loading shown in Figure Q3. The beam is 8 metres long and is loaded with two point loads, F4 = 133 kN located 3m from the left support and a load of F2 = 50 kN located 2 m from the right support The beam has a hollow circular cross-section with outer diameter 300 mm and 15 mm wall thickness. Take Young's Modulus E = 220 GPa. a) Write down the bending moment equation for the beam. b) Write down the slope and the deflection equations for the beam. c) Determine the Second Moment of Area of the cross-section. d) Determine the deflection in metres and millimetres at x = 3 and x = 6 m. e) Draw a representative deflection diagram clearly identifying the value of deflection at x = 3 and x = 6 m. f) Determine the value of the maximum deflection in metres and its location.
