Your family is having a 4th of July party and a helium balloon
that was tied to a post out in front of your house is accidently
released. The balloon is a sphere (V = 4/3πr^3 ) with a radius of
18 cm. When released the balloon travels about 5 km up in the air.
If the balloon is released at a temperature of 27 degrees C and a
pressure of 1.01 x 10^5 Pa, and the temperature and pressure 5 km
higher is -5.5 degrees C and 4.1 x 10^4 Pa, respectively, what is
the radius of the balloon when it reaches 5 km? What is the change
in the kinetic energy of the helium in the balloon as a result of
the height change?
