Using a long, massless rope, a 1.83 kg mass and stop watch; you
can determine the height of a tall tower. Suspend the mass from the
ceiling using the rope, such that when in the equilibrium position
the mass is barely above the floor at the bottom of the tower. Now
you pull the mass off of the vertical, and release it such that is
swings with simple harmonic motion. It completes 19 cycles in 276
seconds.
Answer tolerance of ±5 on the third signficant
digit.
a) Calculate the length of the rope and thereby the approximate
height of the tower.
