What is the purpose or action of this medication
To lower BP, it works somewhere in my kidneys, I think
To thin my blood, no idea how though
Water pill, makes me pee a lot at night
When I have chest pain
I don’t know, it was just started at my last visit
What is the method of Administration? (How/when do you take your
medication) ?
I take in the morning when I wake up with breakfast
I also take this in the morning with breakfast
I take this each evening with my supper.
I should put it under my tongue and drink a full glass of water.
They gave it to me in a dark vial and told me to keep it in there
until I need it.
I take one in the morning and one with supper.
Why do you take this medication? (treatment/Goal)
My doctor said this med should keep my bp less than 150/90
To prevent another heart attack
My doctor said this med should keep my bp less than 150/90
To stop the pain in my chest
I’d assume it’s also to keep below 150/90
What do you need to monitor when taking this medication?
I was told to check my blood pressure with my automatic
cuff.
There’s some blood test that can tell if I am bleeding too much,
I just look for bruises.
I check my weight each morning when I get up.
If my pain goes away, otherwise I’m supposed to take another
one.
I check my BP in the morning before all my meds
Do you have or have you ever had any Side Effects or Adverse
Reactions from this medication?
I watch my BP because I was told this can make it go too
low.
Can cause bruising
It causes me to pee a lot! I usually will get up a couple times
when I first go to bed.
Last time I took it, I ended up with a horrible headache!
I’ve been feeling more tired and dizzy since starting this drug,
but I’m not sure if it is related.
How do you manage your side effects of the medication?
I drink plenty of water in the morning.
I try to be careful to not run into things, but I’m kinda
clumsy
I don’t take it if I am going to be out at the art museum or a
show at The Rep so I’m not running to the bathroom all evening.
I took some Tylenol and used a cool compress on my head. It
helped a little.
I cancelled a couple shifts at work to take it easier.
Do you know of any food or drug interactions of this
medication?
I take multiple drugs that lower my BP, could that be an
interaction?
I only use Tylenol for pain since aspirin can cause me to bleed
more.
I was told to eat a banana each morning
None that I was aware of, but you just said my other meds can
interact
None that I was aware of, but I bet it interacts with my other
BP meds
Patient’s Perception of the Effectiveness of Drug (Do you feel
the drug is working?)
I’m not sure, sometimes I think it works better than others.
It must be, fingers crossed, haven’t had another heart attack. I
am a little concerned about my pain in the chest though.
I pee a lot so it must be working.
Seems to do the trick, I haven’t taken myself to the emergency
room yet.
I’m not sure if it is working since I still have pain in my
chest.
