Thermodynamics
Imagine a system in a magnetic field with magnetic spin
particles
where the spins are all aligned parallel (up) or anti-parallel
(down) toward the magnetic field. These particles do not interact
with each other. Show the expressions for the chemical potential of
the two species (spin up and spin down) separately and then
determine how the total concentration of the particles depends on
the magnitude of the external magnetic field. Use the expressions
and also chemical potentials needed so that we can find the total
concentration of all of the particles, the total of the spin up and
down varieties.
Please show all work and explanation. I will rate. Thank
you.
