u u Problem 1 Two blocks of mass m₁ = 1.0 kg and m₂ = 2.0 kg are connected by a massless string over a cylindrical pulley of mass M = 2.0 kg and radius R 10.0 cm. Block 1 is at the frictionless surface tilted at angle = 30° to the horizontal. When the system is released from rest, the blocks move rightward with constant acceleration. M, R m₂ e Figure 9: Problem 1. (a) Draw and label all forces acting on the blocks and pulley that determine their motion. (3pt) (b) Write appropriate Newton's 2nd law for each object clearly indicating all force components, torques, and their signs. (5pt) (c) Determine the magnitude of the block my acceleration. Be sure to show all work leading to the final answer. (4pt=2pt for work + 2pt for the final answer) (d) Find the tension in the cord between block m, and the pulley, and between block m₂ and the pulley. (4pt) (e) What is the magnitude of the pulley's angular acceleration and the magnitude of the net torque acting on the pulley? (4pt) Bonus: How long does it take for the pulley to make one full revolution? (3pt)
