Each of the nine squares on the diagram refer to a different
aquarium; these are located in a room with a door on one side. Each
aquarium was assigned either treatment A, B, or C. There were three
replicate aquaria with each treatment. Given that aquaria near the
door are exposed to cold drafts: (a) Show an ideal assignment of
aquaria by writing in either A, B, or C in each
box. Circle a group of aquaria that would be a “block” in
this experiment. Does your answer to (a) indicate study
with “balance”?
