As part of their workplace policy evaluation, a
multi-national corporation has hired a team of industrial
sociologists and organizational psychologists to investigate
differences in employee satisfaction based on mode of work
during the two years of the COVID-19 pandemic (March 2020-March
2022). The results of the study will be used to determine
strategies for the workplace post-pandemic. The team conducts
a study of twenty-four (24) employees, with eight (8)
employees randomly selected based on their mode of work
during the pandemic. The data is shown in the table
below.

a) Using the data in the table above and the steps in
hypothesis testing, determine if there is a significant
difference in employee satisfaction based on mode of work. Assume
alpha = 0.05 (15 marks)
b) The result of the study yields a p-value of 0.08.
What decision should the team make regarding their
hypotheses? Explain with reference to significance level and errors
in hypothesis testing. (3 marks)
c) Another team is designing a study to examine employee
satisfaction differences between two samples (Work from Home
and Work from Office). The team intends to measure their
dependent variable at the ordinal level. Which statistical
test should the team use, and why? (2 marks)
