Problem 2 (34pts) You are designing a Rankine cycle with water as the working fluid. You have the option to adopt a reheat cycle (1-2-3-4-5-6, schematic on the left) or to just have a simpler cycle (A-B-C-D, schematic on the right). Property data at most state points are provided in the table below for both cycles. The pump for each cycle has an isentropic efficiency of 0.9, but the turbines are assumed to operate isentropically. Other common assumptions include: turbines and pump are adiabatic; flows in steam generator and condenser having negligible pressure drop; negligible KE and PE effects in the system. a) Fill in the missing data in the tables below, show your work when needed; (For the data already provided, you don't need to re-evaluate. Ignore the cells with "/" in them.) (Hint: the h value for state 6 is the same as for state D, so you only need to find it once.) b) Find ratio of the thermal efficiencies for the two cycles, "reheat/no reheat -Rebeir section S Low-pressure turbine Sam generator B mm State I 2 3 4 S 6 High- pressure turbine.
