A building is fed by a 2000 kVA transformer which supplies
4160/2400V service into the building’s main switchgear. Cite the
NEC
a. Draw a one-line depicting the transformer, service
conductors, and main overcurrent protective device(OCPD).
Size the cables and OCPD, cite your work and code
allowances.
b. The main switchgear is 12’ wide and comprised of 3 sections,
each 4’ wide with a hinged door that is the full width of a single
section. The gear is installed opposite a masonry wall. What is the
depth and width of my working space/clearance?
c. Draw a new one-line diagram which integrates an emergency
generator into the system. Integrate this using the
technology which we have discussed in class and size the conductors
and OCPD according to code requirements.
