The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) has tasked you to conduct a preliminary drought assessment of the water resources in the catchment surrounding the gauge at Rondebosch (B1H015), on the Little Olifants River. The drought assessment is based strictly on annual total flows (in million cubic meters = Mm³), from 1980/1981 to 2000/2001. Perform the following tasks: 1.1. Display screenshots of your serial number and the gauge details 1.2. Display the time series of streamflow data for both monthly flows and annual total flows. 1.3. Determine the drought threshold as median+16 Mm³ 1.4. Plot the times series of streamflows and include the threshold level. 1.5. Determine the drought occurrence 1.6. Determine the longest drought period. 1.7. Briefly analyse the risk associated with droughts for the above case. (Not more than 5 lines). (You were requested to download the data and prepare them in Excel 6 days before the test; from the following link (https://www.dws.gov.za/Hydrology/Default.aspx), owned by the Department of Water and Sanitation-DWS).
