Systems of Identical Particles 1.) Consider three non interacting spin one half particles in the potential of a 3D (THREE) isotropic harmonic oscillator with frequency w. Is the allowed configuration with the lowest energy/ground state degenerate. If it is degenerate, what is the degeneracy? Write down just one possible acceptable (physically) form of the ground state of said system. You can use single particle basis states in form of Ynx, ny, nz, ±> 1b) Suppose if you had the same 3D harmonic oscillator potential, but now with twenty non interacting spin one half particles, and now want to find the ground state/lowest allowed energy configuration. In this configuration, what is the energy of the HIGHEST occupied basis state? What is the total energy of the system of twenty particles? Make sure not to take advantage of rules, start by listing single-particle energy eigenstates in order of increasing energy.... how many would be needed to fit all twenty?
