The pit must have a side slope of 1:3, and the final surface must have a slope of 1:4. Assume that the soil occupies 20% of the compacted volume. Assume that the in-place density of the solid waste is 1,200 lb/yd 3. Assume that 35% of the waste will be diverted from the landfill through recycling! and composting. Per capita waste generation of the community is 6 lb/capita.day. The height of the waste cannot be higher than 20 meter above ground level.
