A planoconvex lens is made of a material with an index of
refraction of 1.54 and has a radius of curvature of 20.0 cm. There
is also a concave mirror with a radius of curvature of 50.0 cm
placed 40.0cm to the right of the lens. A 3.00 cm tall object is
placed 60.0 cm to the left of the lens. Light passes through the
lens and reflects off the mirror before making it to the observers
eye.
(a) Where is the image? Your answer should be of the form of
some number of cm to the left or right of the object!
(b) Find the magnification and height of the image.
(c) Is the image real or virtual? Upright or inverted?
(d) Explain in words how the lens and mirror work together to
form the image.
