A water tower is shaped approximately as a cylinder that is
16.00 m in diameter and 11.00 m in height, mounted on a base so
that the level of water in the water tower is 37.0 m above the
ground. Water flows from the water tower into a house through a
pipe that is 5.00 cm in diameter. The pipe goes into the house at
ground level (y = 0.0 m). The intake pipe delivers water at a rate
of 0.034 m3 /s. You can assume that the volume of water in the
water tower is large enough that the speed of the water flow is
negligibly small. The water tower has vents at the top, exposed to
air at atmospheric pressure.
Find: a) The speed of the water as it enters the house through
the intake pipe. __________________
b) The pressure of the water as it enters the house through the
intake pipe. ___
