oblems. 1. A motorist enters a freeway at 45 Km/h and accelerates uniformly to 90 Km/h. From the odometer in the car, the motorist knows that she traveled 0.20 Km while accelerating, determine (a) the acceleration of the car, (b) the time required to reach 99 Km/h. 2. The acceleration of a package sliding at point A is 3m/s?. Assuming that the coefficient of kinetic friction is the same for each section. (a) Draw the free body diagram (b) Calculate the acceleration of the package at point B. See Figure #1 3. A 2 lb stone is dropped from a height hand strikes the ground with velocity of 50 ft/sec. (a) Find the kinetic Energy of the stone as it strikes the ground. (b) Use the work-energy principle to find the heighth from which it was dropped. 4. A system consists of two particles A, and C. We know that Ma = 3 kg, and Mc. 5 kg and that the velocities of the particles expressed in m/s, respectively, VA = -41 +4j+6K, and V=21-6j - 4 K. See Figure #2. Determine: (a) The position vector of particles A and C (b) The position vector of the mass center G (c) The linear momentum of the system (d) The Angular momentum Ho of the system about the origin o - 5. When the power to an electric motor is turned on the motor reaches its rated speed of 3300 rpm in 6 seconds, and when the power is turned off the motor coasts to rest in 80 seconds. Assuming uniformly accelerated motion, determine the number of revolutions that the motor executes (a)in reaching its rated speed, (b) in coasting to rest.
