In the figure, the rod is moving to the right with a speed of
1.3 m/s and has a resistance of 2.5 Ω. the rail spacing is l=25cm.
the magnetic field is 0.35 T and the resistance of the U-shaped
conductor is 25 Ω at a given instant. Calculate a) the induced emf,
b) the current in the U-shaped conductor, and c) the external force
needed to keep the speed of the rod constant at this instant.

Suppose that in the previous exercise, the U-shaped conductor
and the connecting rod are oriented vertically (but still in
contact), so that the rod falls under the gravitational force.
Determine the terminal speed of the rod if it has a mass of 3.6
grams, a length of 18 cm, and a resistance of R=0.0013 Ω. It falls
in a uniform horizontal field B= 0.06 T. Neglect the resistance of
the U-shaped conductor.
