Reaction Problem for the Project (not due on this HW, but you can get started You wish to make formic acid by reacting formaldehyde with water in the gas phase: 2 HCHO + H20 - CH2OH + HCOOH Unfortunately, a gas phase side reaction that can occur is: 2 HCHO - HCOOCH3 To simplify the analysis, you should assume that all species will remain in the gas phase so that you don't have to deal with problems below 373 K when some of the species start to condense. a) Find the equilibrium constants for these reactions at 298 K and 1 bar by hand or with a spreadsheet. b) Find the equilibrium constants for these reactions at 355 K and 1 bar by hand or with a spreadsheet or computer program.
