Problem 3 (1) Write the neutralization reaction that takes place when the weak acid CH3COOH is titrated with NaOH. (2)Write the reaction of the conjugate base, CH3COO- with water. (3) Make two approximate particle pictures of the equilibrium mixture that results when 10 particles of the weak acid CH3COOH are titrated to the equivalence point using NaOH. a. Draw picture 1 to represent what the mixture looks like after the neutralization reaction has taken place to titrate to the equivalence point. For this picture the weak base has not yet reacted. b. Draw picture 2 to represent the equilibrium after the conjugate base has reacted to achieve equilibrium. Assume that 10% of the conjugate base undergoes reaction with water.
