1. (a) Consider the magnetic structure shown in Figure 1. A 150-turn coil is wound uniformly on the left section. The mean lengths of the left and right sections are l1 = 13 = 50 cm, while the mean length of each of the center section is 12 = 5.75 cm as indicated. The air gap length is lg = 0.5 cm. The cross-sectional area of the center section is 5 cm², while the cross-sectional areas of the left and right sections are 2 cm2 each. EE3010 (i) Draw the magnetic equivalent circuit of the magnetic circuit of Figure 1 on page 1. Find the fluxes in each of the three sections and then calculate the dc current I required to cause a flux density of 0.1 T in the air gap. (ii) Calculate the energies stored in the air gap, the left section, the right section, and the center section. What is the inductance of the coil? (20 Marks)
