Explain the origin of chromatic dispersion in your system and
draw a graph showing chromatic dispersion (in terms of the
dispersion coefficient ‘D’ in ps/(nm.km)) against wavelength for
the standard single mode fibre used above. Using l1=
1550.92 nm as a reference and assuming that the average chromatic
dispersion is 17ps/(km.nm), calculate the value of chromatic
dispersion at 2.5 Gb/s. (12%)
