Platelet count
Platelets function to initiate the process of coagulation.
Why would a patient with low platelets not be able to get an
epidural? Is it normal with your OB patient to see a decrease in
platelets after delivery? If so, why?

WBC
White blood cell. Part of the body's defense system.
What does this indicate if decreased? What does this indicate
if increased?

Polys
Neutrophils, respond more rapidly to the inflammatory tissue
and injury sites than other WBC's. The segments are mature
neutrophil and the "bands" are immature ones that multiply quickly
during an acute infection.
What's another name for poly's? What would cause the numbers to
increase? Decrease?

Lymps
Primary cells of the immune response. Reside in lymphoid tissue
as mature T cells, plasma cells or B cells.
What would cause the numbers to increase? Decrease?
