Mr. Aniston is a 74-year old male living with his wife in their own home. He is a retired masonry worker. Mr. Aniston has a history of hypertension, arthritis, and glaucoma for which he takes several medications for these medical diagnoses. He recently had a car accident while driving at night and sustained a leg fracture; he had surgery to set the leg and is recuperating on the orthopedic unit where you are a nurse. While in the hospital, Mr. Aniston is exhibiting mental status changes including disorientation and confusion. His wife is quite anxious and reports that he never had this problem prior to surgery. You want to use the nursing process and get more information: ASSESSMENT 1. What are some possible reasons that Mr. Aniston may have been in a car accident?
