Reflective Journal Framework: LEARN Look back - Look back over the events of the day (or one of the simulation activities) and choose one that was meaningful to you. It could be meaningful because it was positive, negative, difficult or unexpected etc. Elaborate in writing - describe what happened. What were the details of the experience and how did it make you feel, think or react? Who else was involved (remember confidentiality), how did you participate or was it something that you observed? Analyze - What made it a good experience? A bad experience? An interesting experience? Where there differences in what actually happened and what you thought would happen? What has this reflection helped you to learn - personally or professionally? Did the experience have value for you, if so how? Revise - Will you do things differently next time, what learning was reinforced, what new information is needed to move forward, how will you build on the positive experience. New Trial - How will you use this learning in the future? Do you have further areas you need to investigate or learn about as a result of this experience? Is there something you will do now or revise in the future as a result of this experience? Adopted from the College of Nurses of Ontario, 1996 Reflection Assignment (PSW) Personal (PSW) Personal support worker "Practice Reflection is more than just thinking about practice. It is an intentional process of thinking, analyzing and learning" (CNO, 2015) Reflecting on your practice is an important part of continued learning as a healthcare worker. Weekly reflections will be a part of placement in semester 2. 2 (PSW) Using the LEARN format reflect on how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected your learning. This could be a negative or positive experience. The goal of reflection is to improve your practice or in this case improve your learning. Clinical Reflection should be in the LEARN format to organize your reflection and presented in APA format. Your thoughts need to be complete and concise.
