A gas is compressed such that its temperature increases from 15 °C to 200 °C while its pressure increases from 150 kPa to 2 MPa as shown in the figure below. During the compression some heat escaped to the reservoir. The amount of work done on the gas during the compression is 40 kJ. Assume the initial volume of the chamber was 0.1 m and that the specific heat capacity of the gas is 745 J/kg/°C and that it has a mass of 28 g/mol. i) Calculate the amount of heat lost during the compression. ii) Calculate the change in the internal energy of the gas.
