Let’s suppose that you close a door which is 1 meter wide. You
use a considerable force of 20N to do so, which is about the
equivalent of holding the weight for a mass of 2 kg on your hand.
For someone who has a finger at the hinge of the door, just 0.01 cm
from the door closing, what would be the compressing force? What if
that distance was reduced to 0.005 m? What mass would present the
equivalent weight of these two forces?
