4. In a field experiment designed to investigate the role of genetic diversity in ecosystems, Reusch et al. (2005) planted eelgrass in plots in a shallow estuary in the Baltic Sea. Eighteen eelgrass shoots were planted in every plot. Some plots (randomly chosen) were planted with only one eelgrass genotype, others were planted with three genotypes, and others were planted with six different eelgrass genotypes. At the end of the experiment, the total number of shoots was counted in each plot. The results from 32 plots were analyzed in SAS, with output given on page 7 (A-6 pts.) At a significance level of 5%, do the results provide evidence to indicate that the mean number of shoots per plot differs for these three levels of genetic diversity? Report a p-value, and explain how you used it to make your decision. (B-6 pts. Use the output to report and interpret a confidence interval for Ho-Hi, where ps - mean number of shoots for all plots with 6 genotypes, and pi= mean number of shoots for all plots with 1 genotype. Specifically, can you tell with confidence which level of diversity has higher mean number of shoots and by how much? Include the appropriate unit. (C-6 pts.) Do you see anything in the output to make you doubt that the requirements for this procedure have been violated? Be specific about the requirement(s) that you believe are or are not satisfied, fully justifying your response by citing specific feature of the output
