Question 2.Inference on the mean of a normal population, variance known. (50 Points) As per a factory standard, the mean volume of specific soda in a can should be equal to 110 fluid Ounces. A quality controller uses a random sample of n = 20 and do volume measurements to test whether the factory standard is met or not. The sample mean volume is found to be 108.7 fluid Ounces. It is assumed that volume of soda has a normal distribution with known variance o2 = 81. a (a) State the null and the alternative hypotheses of the test. [10 points) (b) Calculate the observed value of the 2-statistic, Zo, in the sample. [10 points) (c) State the rejection criterion for a fixed level test (the critical value approach) with a=0.05. [10 points) (d) Calculate the p-value ("observed significance level") of the test. [10 points) (e) What is the conclusion of the test in the context of the problem? (10 points)
