Project Part B: Home Assessment/Modification
Evaluate your home/apartment as if you utilized a wheelchair
full-time as your primary mode of mobility (Bathroom, kitchen,
living room, bedroom, hallways, laundry area (if its included in
your home), and driveway/entrance-way with door). What are the
environmental barriers (including dimensions), and what are the
possible environmental modifications to make your home
accessible? What would you need to make your living space ADA
compatible? If your living space doesn’t include your laundry area,
is it ADA accessible already? Include/upload pictures if it helps
to get your ideas across into a power point presentation.
Remember, while money is no object, you must stay within the
confines of the outer wall/weightbearing wall dimensions (you can’t
just decide to add onto your home or make your apartment in to a
10,000sq. foot mansion).
