A Structural Element Supports Loads Of P4 At Cin Z Direction And P2 At B In X Direction On The Bar With A Cross Section 1 (18.24 KiB) Viewed 31 times
A structural element supports loads of P4 at Cin z direction and P2 at B in x direction on the bar (with a cross-section area of A, the area moment of inertia of I and Young's modulus of E) shown in the Figure below. Neglecting transverse shear stress, and any stress concentrators in the bar. a) Compute the strain energy stored in the bar (in terms of P1, P2, 41, 42, E, A, and I). (3 Marks) b) Use Castigliano's Theorem to determine the deflection in direction z of point C. (3 Marks)
