Question 5 a) A stream of air is preheated from 20°C to 170°C. Using Table A2c, calculate Ah (kJ/kg). b) 1000kg of water at 100 bar and 400°C is cooled at constant pressure in a piston cylinder system until its specific volume reaches 0.01 m3/kg. i. Draw the process on a P-v diagram ii. Using steam table, find the final T (°C), AU and AH (kJ). iii. Using equations, calculate AU (kJ) iv. Calculate boundary work (kJ). Do energy balance to find Qnet (kJ)? V. c) A hot mild steel at 250°C is thrown into a lake. If the mass of the steel is 1 tonne and the lake temperature is 20°C, how much heat (kJ) is transfer to the lake.
