The length of the column is 3.43 m with 15.85 cm inner diameter. The load P is identified as 70 N and the maximum compressive stress should be 50 MPa. i. The shortening allowed in the column is 0.7 mm. Estimate the thickness of the column. (8 marks) ii. If a safety factor of 4 is desired, hypothesize the allowable load in the column.
