(a) An isolated footing (pad) of RCC is to be designed for a column carrying a dead load of (200 + x) kN and superimposed load of (45 + x) kN. The self-weight of the column may be assumed as (75 + x) KN. The column foundation is to rest on hard soil with a safe bearing capacity of (195 + x) kN/m2. If a square pad is proposed for the foundation, calculate the size of the pad. [x = the last digit of your student number] (b) Building services are the systems installed in buildings to make them comfortable, functional, efficient and safe. Prepare a Report on 'Building Services with the following subheadings: (i) Introduction (ii) Types of building services (iii) Describe Electrical services, Fire Protection systems and drainage for rainwater and Foul Systems.
