4.86. The Huygensocular is a combination Of two thin plano-convex lenses. The firstis known as the field lens and the second, nearest the observer'seye, is the eye lens. Suppose that the field lens has a focallength of 3f1 and the eye lens has a focal length of f1. Both havetheir curved surfaces to the left and they are separated by 2f1. Abundle of rays converging toward the first focal plane of theocular emerges as a parallel beam. Locate that focal plane.
Answer: 3f1/2 H11H1=3F1 The first focal plane residesbetween the lenses, f1/2 to the left of the eye lens.
