) In a 4 stroke engine of a car for example the piston moves down to allow fuel and air to enter and exhaust from the prior cumbustion to leave. Then before igniting the new fuel and air mixture with the spark plug the piston is moved up to compress the mixture just prior to ignition. Based off the principles we discussed in class about rates of reations please explain the purpose of this compression stroke.
