Hodgkin and Huxley also showed that the delayed outward current (green box in Figure 4) does not change when the extracellular sodium concentraion is changed. (Note: This is a bit hard to see from the plots since the scale on the y-axos is different in normal and reduced extracellular sodium, but they provided the numbers in the paper to confirm this observation.) Why is the delayed outward current unchanged when the extracellular sodium concentration changes?
