If you titrated 8.00 mL of the saturated borax solution sampled at 30.0∘C and 19.23 mL of 0.250MHCL was used to reach the titration endpoint, calculate the following. Volume 0.250MHCl(L) : L Mole HCl (mol): mol Mole borate (mol): mol Volume of analyte (L) : L Concentration of the borate ion (mol/L): mol/L Ksp for the borate at this temperature:
If your sample of borate is hazy when the sample temperature is determined, how will that affect the results? Select one: More titrant volume will be needed and the calculated concentration of borate will be incorrectly larger. Less titrant volume will be needed and the calculated concentration of borate will be incorrectly smaller. More titrant volume will be needed and the calculated concentration of borate will be incorrectly smaller. That will not affect the volume of titrant needed and my calculated concentration of borate will be correct for that sample. Less titrant volume will be needed and the calculated concentration of borate will be incorrectly larger.
Review the experiment background and procedure. You will be titrating the borate ion with 0.250MHCl. The borate ion from borax reacts with HCl as shown in the following equation. v B4O5(OH)42−(aq)+wHCl(aq)+xH2O(l)⟶y B(OH)3(aq)+zCl−(aq)
