(c) The square-planar complexes trans-[Pd"(H)(CI)(PEt3)2] (see structure below) is analyzed by means of 'H NMR, 'P{H} NMR and IR spectroscopy. H PEt3 Pd PEt3 (i) Predict the pattern of the peak assigned to the hydride ligand (H) in the 'H NMR spectrum and the pattern of the peak(s) assigned to the phosphorous atoms in the 3lP{'H} NMR spectrum (hint: both 'H and 31P have I = 12, and are 100% naturally abundant; to a first approximation, Pd may be regarded as an NMR-inactive nucleus). [15 marks] How many metal-phosphorous stretching bands are you expecting to observe in the IR spectra of the complex? Justify your statements. [5 marks) (ii)
