1. Consider the graph y=f(x) given to the right. a) On the graph to the right sketch and label the secant line to y=f(x) on the interval [−4,−2] and [−2,2] b) Evaluate the ARoC on the intervals [−4,−2] and [−2,2]. Show how you apply the formula and show some work. c) On the second graph draw the tangent line at x=−4,x=−1, x=0 and x=1. d) Name a point on the graph where the function has a horizontal tangent line. Why is that? e) Put the values f′(−4),f′(−1),f(0) and f′(1) in order from the smallest to the largest. You do NOT have to calculate these values. f) What is the x-coordinate of the point where the function has the tangent line with the smallest slope value? Why? Explain how do you know this. Draw and label that point on the graph. g) What special point did you find at f)? What is that point for the graph?
