Angle Section in tension (a) A single angle section is used as atension member in a roof truss. It is connected to gusset plates ateach end by fillet welds. Use the member capacity tables of yourP363 to select a suitable angle in S275 steel, if the tension dueto Ultimate Limit State factored loads is 180kN. [5 marks] (b)Design a suitable fillet weld detail according to the requirementsof Eurocode 3. You may NOT use the pink pages of P363 to assist inyour weld design, but should use the appropriate weld strengthclauses of EN1993-1-1 (Eurocode 3) instead. [10 marks]
