Figure Q3 shows a continuous slab for a hall with dimension of 16 m×10 m. The slab has a thickness of 150 mm. The variable action on slab may be taken as 3.5kN/m2 and the permanent action consists of floor finish and services of 1.0kN/m2 (excluding the slab self-weight). The design data are as follows: (a) Calculate the design action on the slab. (b) Sketch the shear force and bending moment diagrams of the slab. Show and determine all the important values. (c) Design the main and secondary reinforcement for Panel X. (d) Sketch the reinforcement details of Panel X both plan and cross-sections.
