In view of new customer requirements, a stress analysis of a member of a robotic arm as shown in Figure Q3 is required. With the plane stresses indicated in the stress element of the figure, perform the analysis by using the Mohr's circle approach to accomplish the following tasks. a. Identify the principal stresses and principal planes for the given state of stress. Subsequently, illustrate these stresses in stress element. (13 marks) b. Identify the maximum shear stress and the corresponding normal stress for the given state of stress. Subsequently, illustrate these stresses in stress element. (6 marks) c. A proposal for future modification of the robotic arm will require welding on the plane that is 50∘ counterclockwise from the x axis. Analyze the state of stress at this plane.
