Evaluate the convection heat loss from both the top and bottom of a flat
plate at T, = 80 °C with air in parallel flow at Ta = 25 °C, Us. = 3000
mm/s over a 25 mm long plate. The thickness and depth of the plate
are l= 1 mm and w = 40 mm, respectively. Neglect the heat loss from
the edges of the plate.
Then evaluate the convection heat loss from the plate to the convection
heat less from a long cylinder (L= 50 mm) of the same volume as that
of the plate. The convective conditions associated with the cylinder are
the same as those associated with the plate. State all assumptions
used in your analysis.
