A hydraulic lift with water as the working fluid is shown below, where the cross-sectional area of the column on the left is A1, and that on the right is A2. The total mass of the car platform on the right-hand side is M, and the piston on the left has negligible mass.
(a) If the column of water on the left is a certain distance H higher than the column on the right, then the system can be in equilibrium. Find this height H.(b) Suppose the platform on the right is displaced slightly from equilibrium. The system will undergo SHM (small oscillations) with some angular frequency w. Find w in terms of p (the density of water), g, and the parameters given in the diagram.
