Question 4: The Makonsel company is a fully connected supply chain that produces goods in production centers Atlanta (A) and Birmingham (B) and sells them at its markets or retail outlets in Pittsburgh (P) and Detroit (D). After production, the goods are stored in one of the warehouses in Nashville (N) and Memphis (M) and then they are sent to one of the cities in Indianapolis (I), Columbus (C), of Richmond (R) for final delivery. The possible logistic paths and their travel times (hrs) are listed in the chart below: 6 5 4 P 3 3 6 3 B M 9 3 12 R Part a) Use dynamic programming to find the shortest path for delivering products from Atlanta to Detroit. (Define stages, states, and decisions and show all tables and final solution) Trucks with limited transportation capacity of 1000 products are used to transport the goods and the transportation cost is 1 ($/hour per product). The table below shows other costs and capacities. Minimum demand in Detroit and Pittsburgh are 5000 and 4000 accordingly. Plants Atlanta Birmingham Production Cost ($) Production Capacity 3000 6 6000 8 Part b) Formulate the problem as a linear programming model to find the best logistic strategy for this supply chain. (Just formulation, no need to solve it)
