While we focused in this course mainly on designing shear reinforcement for reinforced concrete beams, there are cases where we need to analyze or check the adequacy of the shear design, especially for existing RC beams. In these cases, we need to calculate and check that Vn > Vu. Compute the shear capacity for the cross section shown in Figure 4 and check the all other adequacy requirements.
