An odometer test is carried out on a sample of clay 20 mm thick
assumed to be fully saturated.
The time to reach 90 percent consolidation is 10.5 min. Estimate
the following: (a) Time to reach
50 percent consolidation in odometer test (b) Time for a 9-m-thick
layer of this clay to reach 90
percent consolidation assuming the same drainage conditions apply
and it is subject to the same
load increment as in the odometer test.
