6.1 A sewer system is to be installed for a small lake community. The community has 38 year-round dwellings with an average of 3.4 persons per dwelling. Dur- ing the summer months, an additional 57 dwellings are used, with an average of 2.8 persons per dwelling. The total land area for the community is 75 acrés. a. Estimate the average wastewater flow during the winter months. Assume that 86% of the water used is discharged as wastewater. b. Estimate the average wastewater flow during the summer months. Assume that 68% of the water used is discharged as wastewater. c. Determine the unit area flow rate for the summer months. Estimate the peaking factor (PF) and the peak sanitary flow (in gpd and ft/s) for the summer months described in Problem 6.1. Use the Babbitt method (Equation 6.3), Federov coefficients (Table 6.8), and the Tchobanoglous, et al. curve on Figure 6.3 to estimate the peaking factor. 6.2
