A steel bridge supported by two W10x8x33 beams (E=200GPa; 1=7069cm^) with a span of 18m is being subjected to maintenance. The bridge engineer was instructed to not allow a deflection of 5cm anywhere in the bridge during maintenance. Due to the controlled traffic scheme, 5 cars on average are passing through the bridge typically spaced at the manner shown at the figure below. W W W W W (Added later on) -2 m + -3 m 4 m 4 m 3 m 2 m 1. Determine the allowable weight W of the cars passing through. W= KN 2. If a roller support at midspan and a line load of 200N/m is added during maintenance, determine the reaction forces on all of the support. Rleft=- KN KN Rright= Rcenter KN
