how to response this message;"After reading the article and the
section "Jury Selection" in our book. I agree with the judge's
ruling about accepting the two jurors to stay, he had a valid
reason as to why he was going to allow them to continue being on
the jury. One of the main reasons I agree with this is because in
the voir dire process of jury selection there is a fair amount of
selection and questioning when deciding the jury and since they had
been selected over the other 56 jurors then there must have been a
reason. I understand that there might have been some biased answers
when they were selected, but when confronted by the judge, they
agreed that they would stand unbiased. For the juror that had
answered that they were going to be biased the judge dismissed
them, that was enough to know that the judge was aware that there
were biased jurors and he understood that those people needed to be
let go of the responsibility of being a juror. the second reason
why I agree with the judge’s ruling is the jurors were not excluded
based on racial criteria or gender. As our book states "A
prospective juror may not be excluded from the jury by the use of
discriminatory challenges, such as those based on racial criteria
or gender." since this was not the case the judge had the right to
keep the jurors."
